Problems of Desert Development

The international scientific and practical journal «Problems of Desert Development» published in 1967 by the Institute of deserts of Turkmenistan in the framework of UNEP and ESCAP. The magazine is one of the few publications in the world, highlighting the most important results of research and development experience in the arid lands of the world; its periodicity — 4 issues per year, a volume of 8 printed pages, 300 copies.

The magazine is published in Russian and from 1980 till 1999 in English by Publisher «Allerton-Press» in the United States. Through this magazine the magazine gained fame extends to more than 100 addresses in the countries of Central Asia and CIS countries. Among the members of the editorial board and active authors — prominent desert scientists Russia, USA, China, India, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the countries of Central Asia.

The magazine regularly publishes original scientific and practical materials, special attention is paid to regions that were at the center of ecological disaster, in particular, Aral Sea and Transaralie; since 1999 it was created a special section of the journal «Aral and its problems.»

The magazine is published in Ashgabat with the financial support of UNEP, GTZ, UNDP. The editorial board is located in building of the National Institute of Deserts, Flora and Fauna of the Ministry of Nature Protection of Turkmenistan by the address:
