History Institute

The of Institute of History takes its beginning from the mid of the 1920s of the 20th century as a department of the Institute of Turkmen Culture. In 1936 it was established as a separate institute on the basis of the Turkmen state research institute. The institute was named differently in the following years. Since June 12, 2009, it has been functioning as the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan

Major areas of research in the institute:

— research activities in the history of the Turkmen people and from the prehistoric period up to the present time;

— study of the history of formation and development of independent and permanently neutral;

— thorough research in the reforms carried out under the wise leadership of president of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the essence of grandiose success and enormous changes achieved in all spheres of life in the country in the epoch of great revival;

— study of international relations of;

— study of the history and the present status of the world Turkmen;

— preparation of textbooks on the history of;

— popularization of great achievements and success of the epoch of great revival as well as the history, cultural and spiritual heritage of the Turkmen people.

In 2006, the of won the competition and realized the project «Research, Restoration and Conservation of the» in the Gorogly etrap of the Dashoghuz velayat with the financial assistance of the US Embassy in. In 2008, the Institute of History won the competition held within the framework of the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation Program of the US Embassy in Turkmenistan for implementation of the project «Research, Restoration and Conservation of the Ismamyt-Ata Monument» in the Gorogly etrap of the Dashoghuz velayat.
