Institute founded on October, 2000.

Structure

3 scientific departments function in the institute: cultural heritage of Turkmenistan’s people department, cultural heritage of peoples’ of Central Asia and Orient department, archeology and ethnology department as well as translation and editing department.

Institute carries out the elaborations on various scientific problems of cultural heritage of peoples of Turkmenistan, Central Asia and orient (archeology, ethnology, political and socio-economic history, numismatics, architecture, carpetmaking, horse breeding, military art, ethnic history, material and spiritual culture and others.)

Since 2000 the institute issues scientific-popular journal «Miras» in 3 languages (Turkmen, Russian, English). Up to present days, 31 items of the journal were published.

Since 2000 up to 2008 scientists of the institute have issued the monograms, brochures, and theses of scientific reports of the international scientific conferences.

Employees of the institute since 2000 up to 2008 issued 1000 scientific articles, published in Turkmenistan, Russian federation (Moscow, Kazan, Saint Petersburg), Italy (Venice), Turkey (Istanbul, Ankara), Ukraine (Kiev), Azerbaijan (Baku), Iran (Teheran), India (New Delhi), Kazakhstan (Almaty).

    As organizer and co-organizer, the institute held 16 international conferences among which:
  1. «Cultural heritage of Turkmenistan (deep sources and modern perspectives)».
  2. «Cultural heritage of people of Turkmenistan and spaces of Eurasia.»
  3. «The role of Ahalteke horse in formation of world horse breeding.»
  4. «Historic-cultural heritage of people of Turkmenistan and orient in the system of world civilization.»
  5. «Sacred Ruhnama and mutual influence of cultures and civilizations in the third millennium» and others.

The institute has held 7 archeological expeditions: 5 international-Turkmen Britain (2004, Ancient Merv), Turkmen-American (2005, Anau), 3 Turkmen-Italian (2005, 2006, 2007, Margush) and 2 national (2006, 2007, Akdepe).
