International scientific conference entitled “Experience of Turkmenistan in study and museum preservation of archeological findings” started its work on November 12th in Ashgabat. It was organized by the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.

Conference has hosted the representatives of 30 world states. Alongside with the national scientists and museum workers, the officials, leading researchers and experts of the largest museums of the world as well as historians and archeologists, art historians and teachers of the higher educational establishments take part in it. A bulk of them is the specialists, who participated or go on to participate in the joint archeological investigations and researches with Turkmen scientists in the field of history and culture of Turkmenistan.

Members of government, officials and representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Academy of Sciences and higher educational establishments of Turkmenistan, mass media, workers of science and culture, student youth of the capital participated in the solemn opening of the international scientific forum held in Mukams Palace of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan.

Director of Program of Asian culture history of Smithsonian Institute (USA) Dr. Pol Tailor, professor of anthropology, American archeologist Fredrick Hibert, Doctor of History, head of the sector of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nadezhda Dubova, president of Association for cultural exchange between Republic of Korea and Central Asian countries Li Ok Ryon, and Doctor of History, professor from Kazakhstan Zhaken Taymagambetov made their reports at the plenary session of the international scientific conference.

Upon completion of the plenary session of the conference, its participants were informed about sensational discovery made in the course of the last autumn archeological season in Yilgynly-depe by the Turkmen-Russian expedition. Discovery of the shop for making of religious statuettes of palaeolith period (5-4 B.C.) became the large success, being of great significance for world science.

In the second half of the day, the international scientific forum continued its work in four sections, which sessions took place in State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan, Fine Arts Museum, Turkmen State Institute of Culture, and State Academy of Arts.

Tomorrow, the International scientific conference entitled “Experience of Turkmenistan in study and museum preservation of archeological findings” will continue its work. Participants of the scientific forum will visit the exhibition at the Fine Arts Museum devoted to the results of researches of the Turkmen and Russian archeologists, working in the composition of joint archeological expeditions in Turkmenistan, as well as continue the discussion of major issues within the framework of scientific sections.
