The international scientific seminar on the development and use of environmentally friendly and renewable energy sources was conducted in the Turkmen capital. The forum organized by the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan brought together the leading scientists of the research institutes of the Academy of Sciences including the Sun Institute, the teaching staff of the higher educational institutions including Magtymguly Turkmen State University, the Institute of Transport and Communication, the Institute of Economics and Management, the Polytechnic Institute, the Institute of Oil and Gas of Turkmengaz State Concern. Korea was represented at the seminar by the specialists of the Korea Institute of Environmental Science and Technology and the companies Grinfra and Colon.

Welcoming the forum participants Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan Mr. Kim Chong-Yul highly appreciated the high dynamics of interstate relations, which had been fostered by the state visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to South Korea last November. Touching upon the prospects for mutually advantageous partnership the diplomat underscored the great importance attached by two friendly countries to environmental cooperation, in particular the development of technologies aimed at protecting the environment and ensuring a safe «green growth» of economy.

The Turkmen and the Korean scientists presented the national overviews of the ongoing activities aimed at designing and adopting high technologies based on alternative energy sources, developing modern industries that contributed to further economic progress and were aimed at ensuring the ecological wellbeing of the environment and population. Highly evaluating the existing profound resource and scientific potential of Turkmenistan and Korea the forum participants expressed belief that joint scientific and applied research and active adoption of environmentally friendly energy know-how would contribute to the economic progress of the two countries as well as further enhancement of friendship and cooperation between the friendly nations.
