Turkmenistan hasa very rich past. Today Altyn depe, ancient Merv, the mausoleum of Sultan Sanjar, the monuments of Koneurghench, the Mashadi-Misserian fortresses, the fortress of Nissa amaze visitors. These monuments are very important in the world civilization. Side by side with them there are monuments in Turkmenistan which have not been studied yet.
We are lucky to state that after 70 years (since 1931) we managed to put the linear unbalanced thermodynamics in order.
One of the ancient historical monuments of Turkmenistan is the Bezegli dale situated in the Chendir valley of the Magtymguly district. The monuments in that historical place have symbîlic ideographic inscriptions "Say, the Mother of Ferilioty is Ashe", which is considered to be the most ancient ideographic inscription in the world.
Those inscriptions were first found on the walls of the minor Bezegli dale and according to the opinions of scientists those ideograms were created approximately 14 thousand years ago. Thus the age of those stone monuments situated at 8 km. from those cave inscriptions on the sandy mountain hills between two mountains near the Gyzyl Ymam cemetery near the Ak oba village in the Chendir valley is about 10— 11 thousand years. Those monuments were not created at once. They were made during the millennia. That's why the time of their creation and their form changed.
The cave symbols-incriptions or ideographs in later historical periods were found among the designs of Turkmen Carpets. They are usually used as carpet designs in nowadays too. At first they were created as cave inscriptions. In order to preserve them for a long time they we engraved upon the large stones. The statues by their size, height and symbols on their faces were made in pairs. The ideographic inscriptions «the Mother of fertility is Ashe» must have been the name of the goddess of fertility who was worshipped by people.
Those ideograms were found on the items of pottery of Altyndepe, in talismans, charms and terracottas. The scientists established that they belonged to the 3rd millennium B.C. And besides that the ideographic symbols became the patterns of Turkmen carpets.
In the Eastern culture those ideograms were used as architectural decorations of temples. Crosslike monuments found in the Bezegli dale, symbolizing cross also became the designs of Turkmen carpets. The symbol engraved on the stone is similar to bronze cross seals of the Anev culture of the third millennium B.C.
Then the ideographic wall pictures were depicted on the stone monuments, later as the most ancient culture became the Christian culture of Europe, and the symbol of cross, the inscription «the Mother of fertility is Ashe» became the part architectural decorations of Germany. It was not by chance that the symbolic inscriptions were preserved as designs of Turkmen carpets.
These monuments are of great historic importance. They are the evidences of the existence of ideographic inscriptions in Turkmenistan. It should also be underlined that this ancient culture had an influence on the culture of of the peoples of the world.Muhammet GELDIEV, ethnographer.
